- Big Star: Trendy Tex-Mex taqueria with excellent tacos. People go here to see and be seen, al fresco dining, long waits even at the “para llevar” (to go) window.
- El Barco: If you love sea food you will love this restaurant just south of Division on Ashland; order the “cocktail de camaron” “ceviche mixto” and “parrillada para dos” that can easily be shared among four or be prepared to bring back leftovers.
- Guanajuato: A grocery store on Ashland Avenue has some real, double full size tortilla, tacos. Natural freshly squeezed orange and carrot juice or fruit licuados are great choices to complete your meal.
- Las Palmas: Creative, authentic Mexican cuisine, very good food. Indoor and outdoor patio.
- Picante: A simple, tiny taqueria with basic choice of tacos and summer street sitting – carry out or eat standing at the mini-bar in winter. Just west of Damen on Division.
