Sweet Somethings

  • Hot Chocolate -Creative and unique dessert creations. They also serve excellent food. Owned and managed by one of Chicago’s great pastry chefs, Mindy Segal: winner of the 2012 James Beard Award for Outstanding Pastry
  • Caffe Gelato – Magnificent gelato. Their gelato is better what we had in Rome; Division Street sidewalk seating in the summer offers great people watching.
  • Lovely – mini-pies are their specialty in this bakery/cafe just south of Division on Milwaukee 1.5 blocks
  • Alliance Bakery – With a new pastry chef, the pastries are high-quality -  with a side sitting room with free wi-fi and street summer seating. A good place to work if you need internet connection.
  • Leticia’s Cafe – Good coffee, tasty hearty baked goods; open early with seasonal street seating. By the same owners of the adjacent Enoteca Roma.
  • Margie’s Candies – A little on the far side (Near Milwaukee and Western) this traditional candy shop has been around since 1921; serving ice cream sundaes in gigantic ceramic sea shells.  It has the old Chicago feeling with coin juke boxes in each booth and lots of Beatles memorabilia as it was one of the few stops the Fab Four made when they were in Chicago in 1965.
